Top 3 of Urban Crossovers: The 2021 Nissan Kicks is a Good Deal!
SUVs are popular across the industry. However, some categories are more sought after than others, such as the subcompact category. Since 2015, this category has been growing exponentially. In many aspects, it’s been split down the middle into two slightly different types of vehicle.
This is particularly the case at Nissan, who offers the Qashqai and the Kicks. The Kicks is especially appealing due to its super-competitive price.
Your Nissan Charlevoix dealer in La Malbaie near Clermont invites you to check out its Nissan models online or at the dealership. We offer you Nissan promotions such as the Altima package for less, or the option to build your Nissan Leaf right from your living room.
Today, we showcase the Nissan Kicks in addition to its top 3 urban crossover rivals, the Subaru Crosstrek and the Honda HR-V.
1. 2021 Nissan Kicks
The Nissan Kicks was introduced in 2018 and after four years on the market, it has undergone some very interesting cosmetic changes. In fact, the goal of these changes was to reinforce its look and give it more character. Nissan can truly say, "mission accomplished".
The changes include a larger grille (V-motion) and the integration of new LED headlights. The bumper has also been redesigned. At the rear, a horizontal LED bar has been added to connect the lights. On the safety side, the mirrors are equipped with turn signals. New wheel designs complete the exterior transformation.
Nissan changed its interior materials to provide a richer experience for the occupants. A central armrest has been added, as requested by many consumers. This is a testament to the fact that Nissan always listens to its customers. Otherwise, a redesigned multimedia system with new controls, simplified menus and an optional 8-inch screen (the 7-inch comes standard) have been added to the SV and SR models. In addition to the larger screen, you’ll enjoy a 360-degree camera for maneuvering in tight spaces.
Mechanically, the Kicks is still powered by a 1.6-litre, 4-cylinder engine with 122 horsepower and 114 lb-ft of torque. The result is a high level performance, but above all, a very low fuel consumption. Finally, behind the wheel, you'll discover a well-tuned chassis for a stable but punchy ride. Check it out by booking a test drive at Nissan Charlevoix.
2. Subaru Crosstrek
Subaru isn't the biggest manufacturer, but that doesn't stop it from offering great products like the Crosstrek. This little SUV offers a solid road handling, but is a little less sporty than the Kicks. Its all-wheel drive system, however, is recognized as one of the best in the industry. The Crosstrek can be spec’d with two 4-cylinder engines (2.0 and 2.5 litres). Horsepower ratings of 152 or 182 are available, depending on your preference. A plug-in hybrid version is even available, but it doesn't offer much range; however, it’s an option for daily commuters.
3. Honda HR-V
The Honda HR-V has been on the market since its debut in 2016. In fact, we'll be seeing a new model next year. Nevertheless, it remains a good option for those looking for an urban SUV due to its roomy interior. In fact, the configuration of its rear seats (the Magic Seat system) allows for a tenfold increase in cargo space, which is perfect for those who often need to carry a lot of gear or transport their bike from one point to another.
The HR-V comes with a 1.8-litre 4-cylinder engine with 141 horsepower and 127 lb-ft of torque. The experience behind the wheel can be described as perfectly “balanced”.
